Mudville Mariners fall in game 7 of the NSAA Championship

In last night’s tight baseball battle for the NSAA Championship, fans were on fire – clinging to great hope that Mudville would come out with a championship victory. While the team fought hard, and all believed that the game could be saved with the final batter, Mudville just could not clinch the win. Many looked to Mudville’s almighty Casey at bat to save the day, but it wouldn’t be enough to get the championship win.

As it came down to the wire, Mudville was behind 2-4 to the opponent. With just one inning to spare, the audience was losing hope. It was until the crowd realized that Mighty Casey was waiting in the hole to get his shot at bat that the crowd would get excited. Flynn and Jimmie did their part, getting on base – all Casey needed to do was bring them in. With the crowd screaming and the nerves wracking, Casey watched two strikes fly by. Casey said on the experience, “I must admit that the opposing pitcher threw some great strikes at the end there. I was too picky at the plate, and the ump wasn’t going to let me get away with that.” This was exaclty the position that Casey wanted to be in – last at bat with the chance to save the game – but things did not go his way.

Upon the loss, Casey held his head high and came out with a new takeaway. He reported, “This win was something we really wanted. I wish the outcome could have been different, but it cannot be changed. I appreciate the fans support, and I’m sorry I didn’t meet expectations.” While this is an unfortunate circumstance, we can all gather a great takeaway just as Casey did: anything can happen. This was a humbling experience for this talented ball player. With this learned lesson, all should be prepared for next season, when Casey will be even more prepared to knock it out of the park and use what he has learned.
